Early Life and Education

Damion Lee graduated from Calvert Hall College High School in Towson, Maryland, where he was named to the first team of the Baltimore Catholic League and the second team of the Baltimore Sun All-Metro during his senior year.

In the 2010–11 season, Lee averaged 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists per game while attending prep school at St. Thomas More in Oakdale, Connecticut.

Lee led his team to a 30-7 record and the National Prep School Championship while being named to the First Team All-New England Preparatory School Athletic Council.

Career

Damion Lee started at point guard for the Drexel Dragons men’s basketball team in 2011–12 during his rookie year. He averaged 12 points and 4.4 rebounds throughout that season.

He was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year for his outstanding start to his college career. After scoring more than 15 points per game in Drexel’s three tournament games, he was also chosen to the CAA All-Tournament team.

The Dragons (25-5) fell to VCU, 59-56, in the CAA final. The majority of predictions had both teams making the NCAA tournament because VCU was a Final Four team the year before.

However, a disappointing Selection Sunday resulted in the Dragons receiving an automatic trip to the 2012 National Invitation Tournament as the CAA regular season winner and #3 seed rather than an invitation to the NCAA Tournament.

Prior to losing to UMass in the regional championship, the Dragons defeated UCF and Northern Iowa.

After leading Drexel in scoring and placing third in the CAA with an average of 17.1 points per game the following season, Lee was chosen to the Second-Team All-CAA.

He also ranked fourth in the CAA for three-pointers made per game and second for free throw percentage (.829). (2.3). Lee scored a career-high 34 points in a contest with Old Dominion.

His free throw percentage of.887 percent was second in the CAA and rated 14th nationally. In 27 games, he also contributed 2.3 assists and 6.1 rebounds on average.

Damion Lee also led the team in field goal percentage (.438 FG percent), three-point percentage, and steals per game (1.5 SPG) (.385 3P percent ).

Marcus Thornton, a senior guard at William & Mary, defeated Lee for the CAA Player of the Year award at the end of the regular season by one vote.

Lee did, however, get honors for being named to the CAA All-Conference First Team, All-Defensive Team, and Academic Team.

Damion Lee joined the Miami Heat for the 2016 NBA Summer League after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft. He joined the Boston Celtics on September 26, 2016.

He later saw action in two preseason games before being released by the Celtics on October 20. He joined the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League on October 31 as a Celtics affiliate player.

He was released by the Red Claws on January 10, 2017, following a season-ending injury. In 34 minutes a game over 16 contests, he averaged 17.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 1.1 steals.
