Amamkele Lithemba Qamata, born on September 2, 1998, better known as Ama Qamata, is a South African actress known for her role as Puleng Khumalo in the hit Netflix series Blood & Water. She was born in the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape hamlet of Cala. She and her family relocated to Johannesburg when she was three years old.

Early Life and Education
Qamata was born in the town of Cala in the Sakhisizwe Local Municipality in the Eastern Cape. She and her family relocated to Johannesburg when she was three years old.
Qamata first appeared on TV in advertising after discovering acting through school productions. She graduated from Reddam House Bedfordview and took a gap year after matriculation in 2016.
She enrolled at the University of Cape Town to pursue a degree in Theatre and Performance, but dropped out during her second year.
Qamata made her television acting debut at the age of 17 in the SABC1 situation comedy My Perfect Family as Nalendi.
She joined the cast of Gomora in 2020, playing Buhle in the Mzansi Magic series.
She appears in Netflix‘s Blood & Water later that year. Puleng, Qamata’s character, has an abducted sister who is attempting to show that a successful swimmer from a private school is in fact her sister. Executive producer on Gomora was Kutlwano Ditsele, the casting director for Blood & Water, who encouraged Qamata to audition, which she did successfully.
In addition to Rhythm City, Qamata has appeared in Commandos: The Mission.
