Tamar Braxton is an award-winning American singer, songwriter, and television personality best known for her self-titled debut album “Tamar.”

She rose to prominence as a member of the music group “The Braxtons,” which also included her sisters Toni, Traci, Towanda, and Trina. Tamar went solo after the group split. Since then, she has released more than four albums.

Tamar won several awards in 2013, including BET Awards and Soul Train Music Awards for Song of the Year.

Early Life and Education

Tamar Braxton was born as Tamar Estine Braxton on March 17, 1977, in Maryland, United States, to parents Michael and Evelyn Braxton. Tamar’s father, Micahel Braxton, was a Minister of the gospel.

Tamar has four sisters and she happens to be the youngest in her family. Her four sisters include; Toni Braxton, Traci Braxton, Towanda, and Trina. She also has a brother named Michael Jr.

Toni Braxton, the Unbreak My Heart Crooner and seven times Grammy Award Winner happens to be her eldest sister.

She was able to cultivate her love of music thanks to influences such as Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Kim Burrel, Mariah Carey, and, of course, her elder sister, Toni Braxton.

She began her career as a member of The Braxtons, an R&B music group formed with her sisters, in 1990. She and her sisters signed their first record deal with Arista Records in 1989, and their first single, “Good Life,” was released in 1990.

Before disbanding, the music group released their debut album, So Many Ways, in 1996.

Tamar released her self-titled debut album in 2000 on DreamWorks Records. Missy Elliot, Tricky Stewart, and Tim & Rob all contributed to the album’s production.

She began to collaborate with her sister Toni Braxton on several songs and music videos, including the video for “He Wasn’t Man Enough.”

She also co-wrote, performed, and sang background vocals on Toni’s albums, including Libra, Snowflakes, and More Than a Woman.

In 2013, Epic Records released her second album, Love and War. In 2015, she released her fourth album, Calling All Lovers, and in 2017, she released her fifth album, Bluebird of Happiness.

Braxton, along with her mother and sister, starred in the We TV reality television series Braxton Family Values in 2011. From 2013 to 2016, she co-hosted the Fox syndicated daytime talk show The Real. In 2019, she won the second season of Celebrity Big Brother.

Tamar Braxton married her first husband, music producer Darell “Delite” Allamby, in 2001. They met while working on Allamby’s debut album tracks “Money Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Once Again” in 2000. The couple divorced in 2003 after splitting up.

Tamar began dating record executive Vincent Herbert in 2003. Toni, her sister, introduced her to him. Tamar and Vincent married on November 27, 2008, and their first child, a son named Logan Vincent, was born in 2013. Due to irreconcilable differences, the couple divorced in 2019.

Tamar, on the other hand, was in a relationship with David Adefeso, a financial adviser. On July 16, 2020, Braxton was hospitalized following a suicide attempt and in September 2020, Adefeso filed a restraining order against Braxton for domestic violence.

Health Issues

In November 2015, Tamar discovered she had multiple pulmonary emboli in her lungs. She was forced to leave Dancing with the Stars due to the circumstances.

During an interview in October 2020, Braxton stated that she had been diagnosed with anxiety and depression.
