Lex Fridman, born August 15, 1986, is a popular Russian-born American computer scientist, artificial intelligence researcher, and podcaster. He is working as a teacher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He rose to prominence for his podcast on YouTube with a series of videos.

Early Life and Education
On August 15, 1983, in Chkalovsk, Soviet Union, Lex Fridman was born. He was raised in Moscow. Due to the fact that his father is Jewish and was born in Kiev, Fridman is of Ukrainian and Jewish ancestry.
His grandfather was a machine gunner in the Soviet Army fighting the Nazis in Ukraine during World War II, and his grandmother was born and raised in Kharkiv.
With a PhD from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, his father, Alexander Fridman, is a plasma physicist who also serves as the John A. Nyheim Chair Professor and Director of the C.J. Nyheim Plasma Institute at the Drexel University College of Engineering.
In 2001, Lex Fridman completed his high school education at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago.
Following graduation from high school, Lex Fridman attended Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned a BS/MS in computer science in 2010.
A year later, in 2014, he earned a PhD in electrical and computer engineering there.
Under the guidance of engineering professor Moshe Kam, he wrote his PhD thesis with the goal of “investigating the topic of active authentication on desktop computers and mobile devices.”
Career
In the beginning of his career, Fridman worked on machine learning at Google. Fridman works as a lecturer and research scientist at MIT.
His research at MIT focuses on personal robotics, deep learning, autonomous vehicles, and human-centered artificial intelligence.
For semi-autonomous vehicles, Fridman worked on computer vision, deep learning, and planning algorithms in 2017. Peer-reviewed journals have published Fridman’s work.
The Lex Fridman Podcast, which debuted in 2018, previously went by the name Artificial Intelligence Podcast and talks about “AI, science, technology, history, philosophy, and the nature of intelligence, awareness, love, and power.”
The Artificial Intelligence Podcast was a component of the MIT course 6.S099, Artificial General Intelligence, which was offered in 2018.
Later, the name was changed to the Lex Fridman Podcast to allow for greater subject-matter flexibility. Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Jack Dorsey, Ray Dalio, and Mark Zuckerberg were among the visitors.
