Genevieve Nnaji, born on May 3, 1979, is a Nigerian actress, producer, and movie director widely known for her ability to act and playing key roles especially love movies.
Genevieve Nnaji hails from Mbaise, Imo State, the South Eastern part of Nigeria where she was born, and grew up in Lagos.
She won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actress in a leading role in 2005, making her the first actor to win the award and in 2011 she was honored as a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic by the Nigerian government for her contributions to Nollywood.
Early Life and Education
Genevieve Nnaji was born in Mbaise, Imo State, Nigeria where she hails from although she grew up in Lagos State where she began her acting career.
She is the fourth child in a family of eight, raised in a middle-class family; her father worked as an engineer while her mother was a nursery school teacher.
Genevieve Nnaj attended Methodist Girls College (Yaba, Lagos), for her secondary education and earned her Senior School Certificate.
She later proceeded to the University of Lagos, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Creative Arts.
During her time at the university, she began auditioning for acting roles in Nollywood and she played a role as a child actor in the popular television opera Ripples at the age of 8.
