Early Life and Education
Chinyere Igwe was born in September 18, 1965, in Rivers State, the South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
The commissioner for Rivers State previously served in the House of Representatives.
Career
Chinyere Igwe was sworn in on December 18, 2015, and is currently serving as the Commissioner of Urban Development.
He previously represented Port Harcourt II in the Nigerian House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
In 1991, Chinyere became a member of the Port Harcourt City Legislative Assembly, where he began his political career.
Later, from 2000 to 2002, he was a member of the Rivers State Government Projects Monitoring Committee.
Chinyere served as Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Caretaker Committee from 2002 to 2004.
In 2004, he was chosen to serve on the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency’s (SMEDAN) Governing Council.
Chinyere was then chosen to represent Port Harcourt II Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011.
He was appointed as the Commissioner for Urban Development & Physical Planning in 2015 after serving as a politician.
