Early Life and Education
Joseph Benjamin was born to an Anambra State mother and a Kogi State native father.
He finished his secondary schooling in Lagos State after attending basic school in Benue State.
He has a degree in mass communication and a certification in computer literacy.
Career
Joseph Benjamin had his film debut in Crossroads in 1991 (with Ramsey Nouah and Sandra Achums), although his television debut came earlier, when he made an appearance in Tales by Moonlight on NTA at the age of 12.
In the television shows Edge of Paradise and Super Story, Benjamin played a character who was “crushed on” by his neighbor’s daughter.
He made a significant success in the early 2010s, appearing in romantic comedies including Married but Living Single, Tango With Me, which was nominated for five Africa Movie Awards, and Kiss and Tell.
Since his early 20s, Benjamin has been singing in a choir. In 2012, he began a career as a professional singer by working with singer Sabina on the album Merry Christmas.
With the releases Joy in 2016 and I Pour My Love in 2020, the fervent Christian has since specialized in the gospel and inspirational genre.
He has acknowledged that he sees himself first and foremost as a musician.
