Career
At the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan, where he also created radio jingles and musical compositions, Ayefele temporarily worked as a journalist and broadcaster.
He started his musical career in 1997, following a vehicle accident that left him wheelchair-dependent and with spinal cord damage.
His friend Kola Olootu visited him in the hospital after he had been there for nearly nine months and suggested that he write some songs.
This idea led to the 1998 release of his debut album, Bitter Experience, which launched him into the spotlight.
Sweet Experience was made available after the publication of Bitter Experience. The gospel musician has also published the albums Something Else, Divine Intervention, and Life after Death, which was done in memory of the late Nigerian radio host, singer, and comedian Gbenga Adeboye.
His struggle is mirrored in the titles Bitter Experience and Sweet Experience, which refer to the sweetness that follows a “Bitter Experience.”
In the state of Oyo, Yinka Ayefele is the owner of Fresh FM 105.9 FM. The radio station launched in 2015 and received its NBC license on April 30, 2015.
The Oyo State Government razed Ayefele’s Music House on August 19, 2018, along with a studio and the radio station Fresh FM.
The location of the property violated the requirements set forth by the municipal planning authority, which was the government’s justification for demolishing the building. Fans and supporters were outraged by this.
