Tope Alabi was born on October 27, 1970, in Lagos State. She was born into the family of Pa Joseph Akinyele Obayomi and Madam Agnes Kehinde Obayomi and is the only daughter among their three children.
Tope Alabi is married to Soji Alabi and hails from Yewa, Imeko in Ogun State, Nigeria.
Her educational journey began with obtaining her West Africa School Certificate from Oba Akinyele Memorial High School, Ibadan, in 1986.
Subsequently, she pursued her studies in Mass Communication at the Polytechnic Ibadan and successfully graduated in 1990.
Career
Alabi initially started her career as a member of the Jesters International comedy group. Subsequently, she collaborated with other renowned traveling and stage theater troupes in Ibadan and Lagos. Additionally, she ventured into the Yoruba film industry in Nigeria.
However, her career took a different path when she underwent a spiritual transformation and became a born-again Christian. This transition led her to focus on gospel music.
In a Twitter competition held by the United Bank for Africa in celebration of their 70th anniversary on May 21, 2019, Tope Alabi was crowned the queen of the Yoruba language by Nigerians.
