Early Life and Education
Born in Port Harcourt, Nigeria on 22 March 2000 to Nigerian parents, Somadina at the age of one moved to the Netherlands because her father worked there. She attained her secondary education at St. George’s School, Ascot, an independent girls’ boarding and day school in Berkshire, England.
She then moved on to London, England in pursuit of a university degree in Sociology from the University of Warwick. After acquiring her degree in London, she returned to Nigeria to fully pursue her career in music.
Career
Somadina started singing in 2018, releasing her first song “IHY” (a breakup anthem!) soon after. She launched her own label “Somadina Sounds” and kept dropping tunes, like the single “Lay Low” with Orinayo in 2019.
In 2020, she surprised everyone with a 5-track EP called “Five Stages,” but it wasn’t released publicly. Later that year, she teamed up with SGaWD for the single “Kno Me.”
She got fans excited in 2021 when she announced “Supersoma,” and in 2022, she finally put out her official EP “Heart of the Heavenly Undeniable” (HOTHU)! This 11-track beauty includes hits like “Small Paradise,” “Time 2 Time,” and “Dirty Line.” To celebrate, she held a special event at Africa’s biggest art fair and even opened for CKay in London!
She also released other catchy tunes like “Y I Want You” featuring big names like Zamir and Odunsi the Engine, and “Rolling Loud” with its own remix EP featuring DJs from across the globe.
In March 2023, she was announced as one of the African artists to perform at the American Musical Festival, Lollapalooza, Chicago alongside Nigerian artists Tems and Rema.
