Early Life and Education
Fatomilola was born on January 16, 1946, in Ifisin-Ekiti, situated in the Ido-Osi Local Government area of Ekiti State, Nigeria.
He is the offspring of Chief Abraham Ojo Fatomilola and Mrs. Elizabeth Fatomilola. As the son of Chief Ifa Priest, known as the Oluwo (Olu-awo, meaning Lord of the oracle), Fatomilola’s familial ties to spiritual practices influenced his portrayal of herbalist roles in Nigerian films. His mother hailed from Isare-Oge in Kwara State.
Career
In 1967, Fatomilola joined the Olokun Theatre group, where he received guidance under the mentorship of the late Professor Ola Rotimi, a renowned dramatist and prolific playwright at the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University.
Concurrently, he pursued academic excellence and became a member of the academic staff at Obafemi Awolowo University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts in 1978.
Fatomilola earned distinction as the first actor to portray Papa Ajasco, a lead role in a comedy film produced by Wale Adenuga.
His contributions extend to notable Nigerian films, including the 1997 epic African film “Sango,” produced by Obafemi Lasode and scripted by Wale Ogunyemi. He has consistently demonstrated his versatility by portraying the role of a priest in numerous Yoruba films.
