Niniola Akpata, born December 15, 1986, famously known as Niniola, is a renowned Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer. Niniola comes from a polygamous family of ten children, of which she’s the sixth. She was raised in Lagos with his father, a retired Nigerian Army Brigadier-General who was assassinated on January 8, 1995. He married three wives. Niniola is the older sister of Nigeria’s sensational singer Teni.

Early Life and Education
Niniola Apata was born on 15 december 1986 and raised in Lagos State Nigeria. She is from Ekiti state.
Niniola has always loved music, right from when she was a kid. While in secondary school, she will always create time to entertain her classmates and friends by singing any song they request her to sing for them.
This was possible because of her melodic voice and reservoir of songs. As such, she was called “the human radio”. She was also part of the school’s cultural group as well as partake in other social activities
Niniola began her education, both in primary and secondary school, at Apata Memorial High School, a school owned by her late father.
After high school, she enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program at the University of Lagos, where she earned a Bachelor of Education Certificate in Biology.
Career
Ninola set the wheel of her career rolling when she auditioned for the MTN Project Fame talent show in 2013. During the competition, she exuded a lot of confidence and creativity in her performances, though she couldn’t win and finished as the 3rd runner up.
The stunning Musician started her music career professionally on March 19, 2014, when she released her debut single, “Ibadi,” produced by Sarz. This single went on to receive massive airplay in Nigeria and around the African continent.
The Ibadi single paved way for her other singles like ‘Gbowode’, ‘Akara Oyibo’, ‘Soke’, ‘Shaba’, ‘J’ete’, ‘Start All Over’, ‘Jigi Jigi’, ‘Maradona’ & ‘Sicker’. Her singles “Ibadi” and “Gbowode” were used as soundtracks in Season 2 of the Nigerian television drama series “Gidi Up.”
Her single, “Maradona” produced by Sarz in 2017 attracted a lot of commendations as it chatted for 13 weeks on South Africa’s Metro FM chart, retaining the number 1 position for 6 weeks.
In 2019, America’s cute singer, Beyonce used parts of Niniola’s Maradona in her song, “Find Your Way Back” which is part of Beyonce’s “The Lion King: The Gift” album. With this contribution, Niniola was given a Grammy Nomination Certificate in April, 2020
Niniola earned nominations at the 2018 BET Awards and SAMAs for “Maradona”. She received Thumbs up from Canadian rapper, Drake and American record producer, Timbaland. In 2020, she did a collabo with Timbaland on the single, “Fire“
Ninola has also collaborated with EDDY KENZO from Uganda, who won the BET Award. Eddy featured her on the remix of his hit single “Mbilo Mbilo.” Her contributions in the collaboration won them the award for “Best Collaboration” at the 2016 AFRIMA Awards.
Niniola released her most anticipated debut album titled “This Is Me“ on the 1st of November 2017. Due to the overwhelming reception of the debut album “This Is Me”, she was move to an Artist Spotlight feature and was awarded as Apple Music’s New Artist of The Month.
In July 2018, internationally renowned DJ Snake teamed up with Niniola for a hit single titled “Maradona Riddim” based heavily on her 2017 hit song “Maradona.”
On 7th August, 2018, Niniola became the first female Nigerian artist to cross 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
