Early Life and Education
Mike Sigel was born and raised in Rochester, New York, and is Jewish.
When he refused to attend Hebrew school because he was too exhausted from playing pool nights, his mother Ruth would get upset with him.
Career
One of the greatest players of all time, Mike Sigel has won 103 professional pool tournaments throughout his career, including nine-ball and straight pool world championships including three U.S. Open Nine-ball Championships, a U.S. Open Straight Pool Championship, and four Sands Regency Open victories.
In 1973, at the age of 21, Sigel made his professional debut. Sigel quickly made a name for himself as one of the top golfers in the nation.
In the 1980 film Baltimore Bullet, he played himself. Additionally, he served as the sports choreographer, technical adviser, and instructor for the Paul Newman and Tom Cruise shots in the 1986 Academy Award-winning movie The Color of Money.
In the 1980s, Sigel was a top player who appeared on the covers of many industry publications, including Billiards Digest, Pool and Billiards, InsidePOOL, Billiard News, and Bike Week.

Reyes won the match and received $200,000, while Sigel received $100,000 as second place.
