Mbong Amata Grace was born in Aba, Abia state, Nigeria on September 21st, 1985 to parents from Akwa Ibom state.
Mbong grew up in Aba, where she had her primary education before enrolling for a secondary education at the Federal Government Girls College, Calabar, Cross River State. She showed traits of modeling even when she was very little.

Mbong Amata debuted in the Nigerian entertainment industry in 2003, when she competed for Miss Akwa Ibom at the age of sixteen.
