Early Life and Education
Maryam Booth was born on 28 October 1993, in Kano, Kano State. She is 29 years old as of August 2023. She is of two heritage which is Scottish and Fulani. Her father Ado Mohammed is Scottish while her mother is Zainab Booth, the late veteran Kannywood actress. She has two brothers, Ramadan Booth and Ahmad Booth.
Maryam attended Ebony Nursery and Primary School. She later moved to Ahmadiyya secondary school. Even while studying at school, Maryam started acting in movies. Maryam Booth earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration from Mantissa College in Malaysia and also has a master’s degree in Project Management and Cinematography. She also has a diploma from Bayero University, Kano.
Career
In an interview with BellaNaija, Maryam disclosed that she’s been acting since she was 8 years old. Her first role and first break came when a relative Bello Mohammed, introduced her to the movie industry. Later on, she made her debut in the movie “Dijangala”. However, Maryam has played prominent roles in many movies produced by Kannywood.
Some of her movies include: ‘Yan Mata (2010), Alawiiya (2010), Dare (2015), Dattijo (2016), and Sons of Caliphate (2016) amongst others.
Aside from acting, Maryam is the CEO of MBooth Beauty Parlour where she’s a leading makeup artist, designer, and dealer of accessories and fashionable clothes.

About Maryam Booth’s Controversy
In 2020, a nude video of Maryam Booth started making rounds on social media after a Twitter user posted it.
Meanwhile, the Kannywood actress alleged that she was recorded by her estranged boyfriend, Ibrahim Rufai a.k.a Deezell. However, Deezell denied recording or releasing the two-second video. Maryam Booth also alleged that Deezell had severally threatened to blackmail her by leaking her nude video if she didn’t give him an undisclosed amount of money.
In March 2020, Maryam filed a lawsuit against Deezell at the Federal High Court in Abuja. The lawsuit contained a letter of complaint sent to the Inspector General of Police from the Maryam solicitors. In an interview, Maryam Booth said in a statement:
In a situation like this, one needs to be very observant before any pronouncement, but it is true that Deezell was my ex who then ‘sneakily’ recorded me while I was changing. That following the release of the video by the defendant to the public, I have suffered odium, hatred and ridicule from members of the public and have not been able to get movie roles and have been forced to stop work.
