Early Life and Education
Lamine Yamal was born in Mataró, Spain, to an Equatorial Guinean mother and a Moroccan father, but spent his early life spent in Barcelona.
The youngster began playing football on the street of Barcelona, Spain before he caught the attention of Barcelona football club who signed him to their academy.
Career
Lemine Yamal rose through the La Masia young ranks and was immediately considered one of the academy’s top prospects.
Despite being assigned to the Juvenil A team for the 2022–2023 season, which was already above his age grade, Xavi chose Yamal and other young players to train with the first team in early September 2022.
He hadn’t yet signed his first professional contract with the club, but he seemed to have impressed the Catalan coach the most of all the youth players.
In a 4-0 victory over Real Betis in La Liga on April 29, 2023, he made his first-team debut, replacing Gavi in the 83rd minute.
At 15 years, 9 months, and 16 days old, he was the youngest player to ever play for Barcelona’s first squad.
