Early Life and Education
Ifeoma Onumonu was born in Rancho Cucamonga, California, United States, on February 25, 1994.
During her time as a student, she played collegiate soccer at the University of California Berkeley, and before that, she honed her skills at Los Osos High School.
Career
After playing college soccer at the University of California, Ifeoma Onumonu was drafted by the Boston Breakers as the 8th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft.
She made appearances in 18 games during her rookie season with Boston.
Following the folding of the Boston Breakers before the 2018 season, Onumonu was selected by the Portland Thorns in the 2018 Dispersal Draft.
However, she was waived on May 8, 2019, after participating in eight games.
On May 14, 2019, Onumonu joined Reign FC as a National Team Replacement player. Her outstanding performances earned her a supplemental roster spot on June 28.
Subsequently, on January 17, 2020, she was traded to Sky Blue FC. After showcasing her skills during the 2021 NWSL season and earning a spot on the Best XI Second Team, she re-signed with the team on a one-year deal on January 20, 2022.
On October 25, 2022, Onumonu signed a new three-year contract, committing to stay with Gotham FC until the 2025 season.
Onumonu has represented the United States on the Under-23 Women’s National Team. However, in June 2021, she received her first call-up to the Nigeria Women’s National Team.
