The EP, which was released in September 2016, was executive produced by Kehlani, K. Michelle, and Zhavia. Initially, the album lacked momentum.

Alicia Keys and Bryson Tiller, both signed to the same label, announced the album on their social media accounts.

Many other artists like Usher and Pusha T came out in support of the EP, and slowly it gained a strong buzz. Rihanna also supported the album, and she uploaded a clip on Instagram where one of the EP’s tracks, ‘Focus’, was playing in the background.

The video received 5 million hits and the album gained further attention.

In 2017, she released ‘H.E.R. Vol 2,” her sophomore EP, which was also executive produced by Kehlani, K Michelle, and Zhavia.

One single from the album, ‘Say it Again,’ was especially successful, and the album peaked at number seven on the Hot R&B chart.

A few months later, she followed up her second EP with ‘H.E.R. Vol 2, The B Sides,’ which was a huge success. However, unlike the previous EP, it did not reach the top ten of many charts.

She released her fourth EP, ‘I Used to Know Her: The Prelude,’ in August 2018. When the EP was released by the label RCA Records, it sold quickly and made it to the US Billboard 200 chart, where it peaked at number 20.

She performed alongside major artists such as Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Kudi, and Khalid during the show.

She was 20 years old at the time and was making a name for herself in the industry with her soulful music mixed with contemporary hip-hop.

Her songs’ lyrics mostly appealed to young people because they were about dealing with breakups and heartbreak.

H.E.R. released ‘I Used to Know Her: Part 2‘ in November 2018, which was another successful EP that charted on several American charts.

In October 2017, her debut compilation album, ‘H.E.R.,’ was released. The album included a selection of songs from her first two EPs as well as six new singles.

It was her most successful venture to date, earning her five Grammy Award nominations, including ‘Best New Artist’ and ‘Album of the Year.’
