Early Life and Education
Fousheé was born and nurtured in. New Jersey where she hails from. Her mother, a Jamaican, played the drums for PEP, an all-female Jamaican reggae band from the 1980s.
When Fousheé was five years old, she wrote her first song. While she was younger, she participated in performances with bands that she had founded with her childhood friends and studied singing, media, classical music, background arranging, guitar, and piano.
She went to Bridgewater-Raritan High School and carried on playing music in college. In May 2018, she released her first EP, Speak Up. She relocated to Los Angeles in 2019.
To add vocal samples to the royalty-free music repository Splice, Fousheé was invited. On his upcoming single “Deep End Freestyle,” Sleepy Hallow used her “Deep End” sample that he had discovered.
Fousheé wasn’t given credit for the song for a while after his song went viral on TikTok and was associated with a dance challenge that increased its popularity. Fousheé was unaware of the trend.
The RIAA awarded a platinum certification to the Sleepy Hallow song “Deep End (Freestyle)” in August 2020.
The same year, Fousheé released “deep end,” the title of her cover of the song. On Billboard’s Alternative Airplay list for the week ending March 27, the song peaked at No. 10.
With that accomplishment, she became the first Black woman since Tracy Chapman’s “Crossroads” in 1989 to reach the Top 10 for that list. “Deep End” has received more over 234 million Spotify streams as of September 2022.
In June 2020, Fousheé signed with RCA Records.
In October of the same year, Essence gave her song “By One” its world premiere. She was selected the R&B/hip-hop rookie of the month for March 2021 by Billboard.
Trackmasters Entertainment/RCA Records released her RCA debut EP, time machine, on June 4, 2021.
She collaborated with Steve Lacy in 2022 on the songs “Sunshine” and “Bad Habit,” which served as the lead singles for his second studio album Gemini Rights and to which she not only performed backing vocals but also co-wrote the lyrics.
Both singers’ first number-one entry on the chart, “Bad Habit” reached the top place on the Billboard Hot 100. The same year, she also made an appearance on Ravyn Lenae’s self-titled debut album.
She was featured in a Flaunt feature article before to the release of her debut album and was shown wearing Prada, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, and Dolce & Gabbana. On November 17, 2022, her debut album Softcore was made available.
