Fistaz Mixwell was born on April 22, 1976, in Mafikeng, in North Western Province of South Africa.
He was born to Jowie and Edward Matshediso in a small town in North Western Province of South Africa where he grew up.

He left his position at METRO FM in 2011, after managing two positions as Music Manager and head of New Media.
