Odwa Situma, born March 15, 1998, better known as DeeKoala, is a fast-rising South African rapper. She rose to the spotlight after releasing her debut single “Koala” in 2016. DeeKoala released her rap album “4 the khaltsha” in 2019, which garnered massive airplay.
Early Life and Education
DeeKoala was born on the 15th of March 1998 and raised in Khayelitsha Town in Cape Township in South Africa.
She attended Muslim school,then she was a student in the art department.
According to her, she developed a deep passion for poetry at secondary school level, but she got influence from her elder brothers.
Career
Deekaola started recording her songs in 2016, she was inspired by her friends, especially those who she wrote lyrics for.Her music career officially started with her first single step,when she dropped her first music track, “Koala“.
In 2019, she released her first rap album titled ” 4 The Khaltsha”.
The popular South African female artist, Risky Risk, observes her lines of rap in English and Xhosa at the major League Garden festival, helping to deliver a koala career to the limelight limits.
In 2020, Deekaola was awarded as the best South African female hip hop rapper.
