Bonang Matheba Biography
Bonang Dorothy Matheba is a multi–award winning South African TV presenter, radio personality, actress and social media personality who was born on 25th June 1987 in Mahikeng, North West, South Africa. She is known for her top-notch presenting skills and her alluring voice on radio.
She is also the first Black South African to be featured on numerous magazines and first South African celebrity to launch an online reality show called B*Dazzled which came to existence in 2011.
Queen B as she is fondly called by her fans that make up her fan base of over 8.5 million followers across the social media graduated from the prestigious University of Johannesburg. In 2020, she was named one of Forbes’ 50 Most Powerful Women in Africa, also gracing the cover of the Forbes Women Africa March issue.
She is the founder of Bonang Matheba Entertainment and a fashion entrepreneur. Between the periods of 2007 to 2012, Bonang was a co-host on SABC’s (South African Broadcasting Corporation Friday night music show “LIVE”.

Early life, Childhood and Education

Bonang was born to Charlotte Mokoena, the Executive Vice-President for Human Resource and Corporate Affairs of Sasol, and Gampi Matheba, a senior lecturer at North-West University. She is from Tswana ethnic group speaking Bantu.
The family relocated to Leondale, in the East of Johannesburg, while Bonang attended Fourways High School, a prestigious government co-educational school in Fourways, Johannesburg. She then went to the University of Johannesburg where she did a marketing program had to drop out of school and concentrate on her career due to the pressures of fame.

Career
Matheba made her television debut on the SABC 2 kids show, Manhattan Fantasy Challenge while she was 15 in 2002. She also appeared in other several SABC 2 kids shows. In 2007, Matheba auditioned for the inaugural season of the SABC 1 music show LIVE (now Live Amp) after dropping out of the university.
She was later crowned the winner of the show to co-host alongside Tbo Touch. Her presenting duties were a massive success and that’s where she was dubbed “Queen B”. She has hosted several other shows including Clash of the Choirs SA, Afternoon Express, Top Billing and KFC Taste Kitchen after her depart from LIVE.
Matheba has hosted numerous award shows and well-known events like the MTV Africa Music Awards 2016, Miss South Africa 2018, as well as hosted the pre-shows for the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards and BET Awards 2016.
Queen B has featured in many films and show like the SABC 1 show, InterSEXions which happened to be her debut drama role where she acted like a nurse.
Bonang is also a fashion freak as she made a collaboration with retailer Legit in 2008 to launch her first clothing line, “Just B”. She then partnered with a London-based designer to create a handbag collection called “Baby Star“

Personal Life

Matheba dated record producer and disc jockey Euphonik in 2012. Euphonik was charged with assault after it surfaced that he physically assaulted her. She then dropped the charges after the couple reconciled.
Between 2015 to 2017, Matheba dated South African rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes known professionally as AKA. Their relationship was filled with controversy as AKA was reported to date and impregnate disc jockey DJ Zinhle while still in a relationship with Queen B.
