Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, born December 21, 1967, better known as Biodun Oyebanji, is a Nigerian politician and the current governor of Ekiti State. He won the Ekiti state gubernatorial election on June 18, 2022, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Early Life and Education
Biodun Oybanji was born in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti State where he hails from. He is from the Yoruba tribe.
His academic career began at Baptist Primary School in Ikogosi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He attended Awo Community High School before enrolling in CAC Grammar School in Efon-Alaaye, Ekiti State, in 1979.
From 1983 to 1985, he attended Ondo State’s Federal School of Arts and Science and Aramoko-District Ekiti’s Commercial Secondary School.
In 1989, he earned a Political Science degree from Ondo State University, now known as Ekiti State University. In 1992, he graduated from the University of Ibadan with a Master’s degree in Political Science.
Career
From 1993 to 1997, Abiodun Oyebanji was a lecturer at the University of Ado-Department Ekiti’s of Political Science.
From May 1999 to May 1999, he worked as a Manager at the now-defunct Omega Bank PLC, now known as Heritage Bank.He also works in agriculture and is the chairman of Con Dios Farm LTD.
Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has a long political career in Ekiti, having served as Special Assistant (Parliament Affairs) to the Governor of Ekiti State (8th June 1999-2000); Special Adviser (Parliament Affairs) to the Governor of Ekiti State (8th June 1999-2000).
He also served as Special Adviser (Parliament Affairs) to the Governor of Ekiti State (8th June 1999-2000). (8th June 1999-2000). (1st August 2000 – 1st September 2001).
Hon Oyebanji was the Governor of Ekiti State’s Chief of Staff from September 2001 to May 29, 2003, and the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, under the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, from June 2009 to December 2010.
The Ikogosi politician served as the State Commissioner for the Ministry of Integration and Inter-Governmental Affairs, as well as the Director-General of Ekiti State’s Office of Transformation Strategy and Delivery (OTSD).
Biodun Oyebanji served as Secretary to the Ekiti State Government under Governor John Kayode Fayemi until he announced his intention to run for Governor of Ekiti.
Biodun Oyebanji Governorship Ambition
On December 7, 2021, Biodun Oyebanji resigned as the state SSG in order to focus solely on the governorship race.
According to a statement from the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, the resignation was delivered to the Governor in a letter dated December 3, 2021.
Oyebanji’s choice to run for governor of the state in the next election prompted his resignation.
Governor Fayemi congratulated the former SSG for his exceptional efforts to the administration from its commencement in 2018 and wished him success in his future pursuits, according to the statement.
A few days later, he will pick up the election nomination in Abuja, escorted by some political appointees.
Governor Fayemi and the state’s first executive governor, Niyi Adebayo, gave Biodun Oyebanji the best of pupillage in governance and politics so that he could negotiate the rocky terrain and deliver, he remarked during one of his campaign tours.
“I will be the first homeboy to be governor of Ekiti if I receive the governorship ticket and win,” he claims. From primary to secondary school, and finally to university, I attended school in Ekiti.
“I learned a lot from Niyi Adebayo for four years and seven years under Governor Fayemi. Out of the 25 years since this state was created, I have 11 years of experience as a public employee.
If other aspirants come to you, ask them where they got their pupilage so they may do well as a governor.
“When Ekiti State was founded in 1996, I was barely 27 years old, and I served as the Secretary of the Committee for the Creation of Our Dear State.” Because of this opportunity, I was aware of the vision at the moment.
