Alhassan Ado Garba, born August 14, 1965, popularly known as Alhassan Doguwa, is a Nigerian politician and the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives of Nigeria. He represents Kano State’s Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency as an All Progressive Congress (APC) member.

Early Life and Education
born on August 14th, 1965, into a powerful Hausa family. Alhassan Ado is the son of a prominent First Republic NEPU member.
His political party, based in Kano, later joined the United Progressive Grand Alliance (UPGA), which served as a potent national rival to the Northern People’s Congress at the time (NPC).
Alhaji Ado, the father of Hon. Garba, was chosen to serve in the Kano State House of Assembly during the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) administration.
Alhassan Ado Garba, a member of the defunct SDP who graduated with a First Class degree in mass communications from Bayero University Kano, entered politics right away.
It didn’t take him long to make his presence known in the House as he was elected to the House in 1992. He was one of the key legislators who worked to get Engr. Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso elected as the 3rd Republic House of Representatives’ Deputy Speaker.
Career
In 1992, Alhassan Ado Garba won his first election to the House of Representatives of the now-defunct Nigerian National Assembly.
He was a leading member who backed the selection of Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Third Republic.
Alhassan Ado Garba was appointed as the governor of Kano State’s special adviser on the environment in 2000.
Afterwards, he served as Chief Adolphus Wabara, the Senate President, and Senator Ken Nnamani, the Senate President, respectively, as a Special Adviser on Governmental Affairs and Political Party Affairs.
In 2007, Hon. Alhassan Ado was successful in being re-elected to the House of Representatives, where he later rose to the position of Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
The resourceful citizens of Tudun Wada/Doguwa Federal Constituency re-elected Hon. Doguwa in 2011 after he had diligently served the country and in particular his constituents.
At that time, it became more evident that he is in fact a Parliamentary asset having served as the Chairman House Committee chairman on MDGs.

2015 saw the election of Garba for a fourth term in the Lower House, when he was re-elected with a landslide victory as the 8th Assembly’s Chief Whip following the failure of his candidate for the Speakership (Femi Gbajabiamila), who was defeated by Yakubu Dogara.
However, his appointment as Chief Whip led to a rift with Femi Gbajabiamila, which ended their long-standing friendship and tore their team apart.
