Daniel Kanayo Daniel, born May 22, 1986, famously known as DKD is a Nigerian television and film actor, model, voice-over artist, and event host. He is best known for his role as Bossman in the film, A Soldier’s Story for which he won both the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actor in 2016, the first Nigerian actor to have received both awards in the same year.

Early Life and Education
Daniel was born on May 22, 1986, at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. He is the first of four children, one of whom is Chris Daniel Jnr (Kris’D) a musician and performing artist
Daniel’s family moved to Lagos State in Southwest Nigeria when he was a toddler, and then to Enugu State in Southeast Nigeria, where he began formal education.
Daniel is of Igbo descent and a native of Nenwe in Enugu State’s Ani-Nri Local Government Area. He was raised in a Christian home. Chris Daniel, his father, was an engineer, and Kande, his mother.
Daniel is a broadcast journalist and former National President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists. He is currently the Special Adviser to Nigeria’s Minister of Power on Media Matters..
Daniel was the leader of his primary school’s drama and debate club, Command Children School. He graduated from secondary school in 1996, almost always at the top of his class.
He attended Command Day Secondary School in Enugu before transferring to Federal Government College in Enugu in 1999 to finish his senior secondary education.
In 2004, Daniel was admitted to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, to study Applied Biochemistry.
Following his father’s death in Port Harcourt in 2005, his family relocated to Abuja, while his studies continued at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, where he also began his modeling career.
He graduated from university in 2009 and spent four months managing his uncle’s business, Twinkles Catering Service, the first eatery in Gusau, Zamfara State.

Career
Daniel began his modeling career while still schooling, appearing in a couple of television commercials for Zandas Cosmetics.
When he returned to Abuja from the university in 2009, he participated in a few runway shows, including the Abuja Moroccan Fashion Show.
Supermodel Steiner Eunice Opara dragged a reluctant Daniel to a movie audition after one of the shows. Daniel’s talent impressed the directors, Kabat Esosa Egbon and Tola Balogun, who gave him his first acting role in the television series All About Us.
He was then cast in Sarah’s Choice, a BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) film directed by Mak Kusare in which he co-starred with OC Ukeje, Seun Dada, and Sylvia Oluchi.
Following the success of Sarah’s Choice, Daniel starred as the antagonist in the Amstel Malta Box Office produced film The Child, directed by Izu Ojukwu, alongside Joke Silva, Alex Usifo, Bukky Ajayi, and Wole Ojo.
Following that, he landed the lead role in Afam Okereke’s hit film, Ladies’ Men, alongside Mercy Johnson, Funke Akindele, Queen Nwokoye, Ruth Kadiri, Alex Ekubo, and Chigozie Atuanya.
In February 2010, Daniel took a break from his newfound acting career to complete his National Youth Service, which is required of all Nigerian university graduates.
As part of his youth service, he then worked with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
At the end of his Youth Service program in 2011, he returned to acting and appeared in a number of films, including Under, which was shot in Ghana, Ivie, Same Difference, Paint My Life, Tempest, Lions of 76, Jujuwood, Body of the King, Book of Magic, Matchmaker, Spirit Girl, Devil in Red, Girl, Mummy Dearest, Bambitious, and others.
He has also appeared in television shows such as My Treasure, Spider, and Car Hire. Daniel also appeared in two radio drama series produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC): Story Story and Neighbor My Neighbor.

Personal Life
Daniel married Tina in a traditional wedding ceremony on August 26, 2017 in Nnewi, Anambra state. They both have two children.
Some years back, DKD had said that he was dating Nollywood Actress, Stella Charles which they later parted ways after 2 years of relationship.
