Early Life and Education
Wilfred Ndidi was born in Lagos, Nigeria to parents from Delta State, Nigeria. His hometown is unknown but due to his first language being Igbo, suggestions has it that the Ndidi family is from a village in one of five regions including Anioma, Ibuzor, Ukwuani and Oshimili.
Ndidi grew up in the Ikeja Military Cantonment. The Barracks lifestyle in Nigeria gives children a lot of freedom and this is how Ndidi discovered his love for football.
He featured in many inter- and intra-school competitions as a student of the Command Children’s school. From there he joined Nath Boys Academy which was the beginning of the rise of Ndidi.
Ndidi spent his youth years at Nath Boys Academy in Lagos starting out as a forward or striker. He then began to play as a central defender for Nigeria’s youth teams and at the 2013 African U-17 Championship.
Ndidi made his Belgian Pro League debut with Genk on 31 January 2015 against Charleroi in a 1–0 away defeat. He played the first 74 minutes of the game, before being substituted for Jarne Vrijsen.
He played a full back role in that game before returning to the centre-back position he played at the Nath Boys academy. After a good display of football, he was deployed as a central midfielder for the rest of the season.
On 3 December 2016, Genk agreed a £17 million transfer deal with English champions Leicester City. The deal was confirmed on 5 January 2017.
Ndidi made his debut for the club on 7 January 2017, in a 2–1 win against Everton in the third round of the FA Cup. In the English FA Cup game against Derby County on 8 February 2017, Ndidi came on in the first half of extra time and scored his first goal for Leicester through a long-range shot.
Wilfred Ndidi is currently estimated to be worth £25 million. All of which have been acquired from doing what he loves (football).
In May 2019, Ndidi married his longtime girlfriend Dinma Fortune in Abuja.
