Tsamara Amany Alatas, born on June 24, 1996, is an Indonesian politician who is currently Special Staff to the Minister of BUMN Erick Thohir. Previously in the 2019 Election, she served as spokesperson for the Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates, Joko Widodo – Ma’ruf Amin. Tsamara initially joined the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). In April 2022, Tsamara announced she was leaving PSI.

Early Life and Education
Tsamara Amany Alatas was born on June 24, 1996, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Tsamara Amany graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Science at Paramadina University. She graduated magna cum laude, namely a GPA of 3.86 and completed his studies in 3.5 years. On April 21, 2018, Tsamara officially graduated.
In April 2020, Tsamara Amany announced via a post on social media that she had been accepted to New York University. Tsamara Amany achieved this master’s study through a Fulbright scholarship to continue her master’s studies in Public Policy & Media Studies.
Career
She was a witness in the material test of the requirements for independent candidates and also proposed a revision of the Regional Election Law relating to independent candidates.
In January-April 2016, she was an intern for the Governor of DKI, assigned to a team to assist with One Stop Integrated Services (PTSP), simplify permits to start a business, and increase the ranking of permits to start a business from 167 (2015) to 151 (2016) in the survey World Bank. Together with two friends, Gaby and Nita, Tsamara founded the Political Women organization.
Tsamara Amany served as Chair of the DPP for external affairs of the Indonesian Solidarity Party for five years (2017-2022) and spoke a lot about anti-corruption, tolerance and women’s issues.
In the 2019 election, Tsamara ran as a legislative candidate from the South Jakarta, Central Jakarta and Overseas electoral districts. She managed to win the second largest number of votes (140,000) in his constituency, only losing to senior Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Hidayat Nur Wahid who won 281,372 votes.
Despite winning a large number of votes, Tsamara failed to enter the DPR because her party, PSI, did not reach the 4% parliamentary threshold.
