Stevel grew up in San San, Portland Parish, Jamaica, as the first of two children born to Carlton McDonald and Jasmine Williams. He attended Titchfield High School, where he was honored as “Mr. Titchfield 2000.”
After high school, he was discovered by Dwight Peters of Saint International Modelling Agency. That chance meeting launched his modeling career across London, New York, Asia, and South Africa.
