Born in Nigeria in November 1965, Steve Gukas comes from Plateau State. He attended NTA Television College in Jos, where he obtained a Diploma in Television Production.
He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos and furthered his studies in Film Production at the London Film School.
Career
Gukas began his career with experience in broadcasting and theatre before moving into film directing and producing. His first directed film was “Keeping Faith” in 2002.
He gained further acclaim as the producer of “Namibia: The Struggle for Liberation” in 2007, starring Danny Glover. In 2014, he directed and co-produced “A Place in the Stars,” a film focused on counterfeit drugs in Nigeria, which won Best Movie (Drama) at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
His 2016 film “93 Days,” about Nigeria’s response to the Ebola outbreak, was showcased internationally and is available on streaming platforms.
