Sofyan Amrabat was born in Huizen, Netherlands, to parents with Moroccan heritage.
He is the younger sibling of Nordin Amrabat, a former Morocco international footballer who has represented the country in different competitions.

Career
Amrabat began his football journey in 2007 when he joined Utrecht’s youth system from HSV De Zuidvogels. He made his senior debut for Utrecht in 2014 and later moved to Feyenoord in 2017.
Following a season with Feyenoord, he joined Club Brugge before being loaned to Hellas Verona in Italy in 2019.
On January 31, 2020, Hellas Verona exercised their option to purchase Amrabat’s rights from Club Brugge and immediately sold them to Fiorentina. He was then loaned back to Verona until the end of the 2019-2020 season.
At the international level, Amrabat had the choice to represent either the Netherlands or Morocco. Initially, he played for the Netherlands and made four appearances at the under-15 level.
However, he later decided to represent Morocco and was selected for the Morocco under-17 national team in the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup, making three appearances during the tournament.
His senior debut for the Morocco national team came on March 28, 2017, in a friendly match against Tunisia, which Morocco won 1-0. He was also part of Morocco’s 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
