Early Life and Education
The daughter of Julia Kaul (née Paine) and writer and entrepreneur Grant Shelby Hubley, Hubley was born Susan Hubley in New York City.
Whip Hubley, an actor, is her brother. Julie Simpson-Levy and Sara Hubley Beeken are her two other sisters.
Career
From her debut in 1972 as the titular lead in the television movie Bobby Jo and the Good Time Band through her final appearance in 1999 as a guest star on the Flipper episode “Wreck of the Zephyr,” Hubley maintained a consistent presence in both cinema and television.
She appeared on The Partridge Family in 1972 as a princess while acting in television. In a Kojak episode from 1977, she played a nun whose sister had been murdered.
She played Salina Magee, the love interest of adolescent dropout Willie Lawrence, in several episodes of the primetime television program Family in 1976 and 1977.
She also appeared as Starsky’s fiancée in the Starsky & Hutch episode “Starsky’s Lady.”
She played Angelique Marick in the daytime program All My Children from 1991 to 1994. In 1990, she had appearances in the films Stepfather III and Child in the Night.
Through the 1970s, Hubley took on a variety of supporting and major parts. She portrayed the central figure around whom the plot centered in the 1973 film Lolly-Madonna XXX, commonly referred to as The Lolly Madonna War.
The 1979 movie Hardcore had her as a co-star. Her brief appearance in Escape from New York (1981). Her other significant film appearance was as Princess, a prostitute in the cult classic Vice Squad from 1982.
