Early Life and Education
Sam Dede hails from Rivers State, Nigeria then moved to Sapele. He was born in Lagos State, Southwest region of Nigeria.
He attended Government Comprehensive Secondary School then proceeded to University of Port Harcourt.
Career
Sam Dede started working in Nollywood in 1995, and his performance in the movie Ijele helped him become well-known.
His role in the 2004 movie The Mayors earned him the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 2005.
Sam Dede was given The SVAFF 2014 Special Recognition Award in recognition of his lifetime accomplishments and services to Nigerian cinema.
For his work in the 2017 movie In My Country, he was nominated for the 2018 Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role.
He held the job of Director-General of the Rivers State Tourism Development Agency for a brief period of time beginning in 2012.
Sam Dede is a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, where he teaches aspiring actors. One of his students, Yul Edochie, went on to become a star in Nollywood.
