Born on November 21, 1983, in Bushbuckridge, which was then part of South Africa’s Transvaal Province, Ronald Ozzy Lamola’s early life was marked by his entry into the ANC Youth League at just thirteen years old in 1996.
After graduating from Mchacka High School in 2000, he embarked on his educational journey by enrolling for a law degree at the University of Venda.
During his university years, Lamola assumed leadership roles, serving as the President of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and Chairperson of the South African Students Congress in Limpopo.
His dedication to education and leadership continued as he obtained a practical legal training degree from the University of South Africa in 2006.

He then transitioned to a role as a manager at the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality in 2009, followed by serving as the Director in the Office of the Mpumalanga MEC for Culture, Sports, and Recreation from 2009 to 2011.
In a brief yet impactful stint, he assumed the position of acting spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Premier, David Mabuza, in 2011.
Notably, Lamola held the position of Deputy President within the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL), where he worked alongside Youth League President Julius Malema before Malema’s removal from the role in 2012 due to actions deemed damaging to the party’s reputation.
