Early Life and Education
Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Omotoyossi grew up playing football in the streets. Although specific details about his formal education are not available, he began his football journey with local youth clubs in Lagos before moving to Benin to pursue a professional career.
Career
Omotoyossi started his professional journey with AS Police and JS Pobé in Benin, following a suspension from playing in Nigeria. He then signed with FC Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova in 2005, where he helped his team win league titles in 2006 and 2007.
In 2007, he moved to Sweden’s Helsingborgs IF and finished as the joint top scorer in the Allsvenskan with 14 goals. Following that, he played for clubs in Saudi Arabia, France, Egypt, Turkey, and other countries.
Internationally, he scored Benin’s first goal at a FIFA world finals event (2005 U-20 World Youth Championship) and netted 21 goals for the senior national team between 2004 and 2016.
