Oritsefemi Majemite Ekele, born 5 January 1985, popularly known as Oritse Femi, is a Nigerian singer-songwriter and performer. He is best known for his remake of Fela Kuti’s “Double Wahala” song which earned him two nominations at the 2014 City People Entertainment Awards, winning the award for Most Popular Song of the Year.

Early Life and Education
Born in a polygamous family of 25 in Ajegunle, Oritsefemi was the third child of his mom. Though his family came from the Itsekiri tribe in Delta State, he was born in Ajegunle,Lagos. Starting school at Mayday Secondary in Ikoyi, Oritsefemi soon switched to Tolu Primary in Ajegunle when the family couldn’t keep up financially.
He finished elementary at Army Children School and even got his secondary school certificate from Randle Secondary. He pursued a Law degree at Delta State University but for the love of music, it led to his drop out and he went on to chase music fulltime.
Career
Oritsefemi started young, singing in school choirs and parties. He even learned from Jamaican artists at a music school in Ajegunle.
With his friend Chibudo, he formed “The Junglist Boys” and released two albums. Though they split in 2006, Oritsefemi’s solo career took off.
His first solo hit, “Flog Politician,” challenged corruption in Nigeria. Inspired by his own struggles, he sang about the challenges of life in “Wicked World” and found hope in faith with “Mercy of the Lord.”
He kept releasing albums, like “Musical Taliban” and “Money Stops Nonsense,” even collaborating with big names like Da Grin and releasing “Sexy Ladies” with Davido in 2014.
His remake of Fela Kuti’s “Double Wahala” became a huge hit, capturing the struggles of ordinary people. He went on to name his third album “Double Wahala”.
