Early Life and Education
Stanley Omah Didia was born and reared in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is a native of Rivers State’s Ikwerre Local Government Area and was born on May 19, 1997.
Prior to attending the University of Port Harcourt, he graduated from Comprehensive High School in Rivers State.
He comes from a musical family; before to his death in 1977, his grandfather played music for Celestine Ukwu. Drums were played by Lay’s father.
Career
Omah Lay first appeared in a rap group as “Lil King,” his stage name. Later, he began writing songs and producing music, work that largely went unacknowledged.
As a result, he released “Do Not Disturb” in April 2019. A month later, “Hi Brother” was made available.
In June 2019, he signed with the KeyQaad record label before taking a seven-month hiatus. He worked on his first EP, Get Layd, during the interval.
After the break, he dropped “Bad Influence,” which by the end of 2020 had amassed the most streams of any Nigerian song on Apple Music.
Omah Lay released “You,” his debut song, on February 14, 2020. On May 22, 2020, he launched his five-track debut EP, Get Layd.
The EP reached its zenith at the top of the Apple Music rankings in Nigeria. All five of the EP’s songs made it to the top 15 of the Nigerian Apple Music charts, with “You” reaching the top spot.
He made an appearance on the tune “Infinity” from Olamide’s album Carpe Diem in October, which peaked at the top of the Nigerian Apple Music charts.
