Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was born on November 23, 1969, in Isuochi, Umunneochi LGA, Abia State, Nigeria. Her mother died early, and she was raised by her grandmother after her father remarried.She attended Isuochi Central School for primary education and Ovim Girls High School for secondary school.

Onyejeocha began her political journey through student unionism at university. In 2002, she became Transition Executive Chairman of Umunneochi LGA and was appointed Commissioner for Resource Management and Manpower Development in Abia State by Governor Orji Uzor Kalu.
