Prince Chinedu Munir Nwoko, widely known as Ned Nwoko, is a Nigerian lawyer, philanthropist, and politician. He served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in Delta State. In January 2020, he embarked on a symbolic expedition to Antarctica to launch a Malaria Eradication Project.
Born on December 21, 1960, into the Nwoko Royal Family in Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Munir Nwoko received his primary and secondary education in Nigeria. He furthered his studies in the United Kingdom, obtaining his first degree in Law and History from the University of Keele, Staffordshire.
Additionally, he pursued an LLM in maritime and commercial law at King’s College London and was called to the English bar at Lincoln’s Inn. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate degree in Letters (D.Litt) by Commonwealth University College in Belize, North America.
Commencing his legal career, Nwoko gained experience at the crown prosecution service before becoming a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales. He worked at Kumars Solicitors and Pascaldiers & Co Solicitors before establishing his law firm, Ned Nwoko & Co Solicitors, in London.
Throughout his legal journey in the UK, Nwoko held significant roles, including being the secretary general of Nigerian legal practitioners in the UK, a member of the Law Society in England and Wales, and a visiting adviser at the citizens’ advice bureau in London.
His achievements were notable, as he had the largest black law firm in England and was recognized as the best black lawyer of African descent in England in 1995.
