Michael Nelson Trout, born August 7, 1991, better known as Mike Trout, is a popular American professional baseball center fielder for the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB). Trout has been selected to 10 MLB All-Star games, has won the Silver Slugger Award nine times, and has been named the American League’s (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times (in 2014, 2016, and 2019).

Early Life and Education

Jeff and Debbie (Busonick) Trout welcomed Trout into the world on August 7, 1991 in Vineland, New Jersey. He was raised in the nearby town of Millville, New Jersey.

He has a sister named Teal and a brother named Tyler who are both older. Jeff, his father, a baseball player at the University of Delaware, was born on January 7, 1961.

Before suffering a ruptured plantar fascia and knee issues, Jeff played minor league baseball for four years.

Trout was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan growing up, and he attended the team’s 2008 World Series parade.

Trout played basketball and baseball at Millville Senior High School in Millville, New Jersey, where he received five letters (three in baseball and two in basketball). He pitched a no-hitter against Egg Harbor Township High School in his junior year.

The Thunderbolts advanced to the state quarterfinals where Cherry Hill High School East defeated them.

He played pitcher and shortstop in the beginning before switching to the outfield in his senior year.

He set a high school record in New Jersey that year by hitting 18 home runs. Prior to the 2009 MLB Draft, Trout made a commitment to play baseball for East Carolina University.
