Early Life and Education
Matt Rife was raised in North Lewisburg after being born in Columbus, Ohio. He also resided in Mount Vernon and New Albany.
At the age of 14, Rife developed an interest in comedy after learning that his high school would host a talent competition.
He performed the act after a buddy pushed him to do so, and at the age of 15, he began performing professionally.
He has four siblings: one younger half-sister and three older stepsisters. Michael Eric Gutzke, his father, committed suicide when Rife was just 17 months old.

He also made an appearance on Bring the Funny in 2019[10], where he made it to the Semi-Final Showcase but was eliminated in week 8.
He gained notoriety as an actor for his appearances in the sketch comedy and improv game show series Wild ‘n Out, as Brandon Bliss in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and as Logan in the sitcom television series Fresh Off the Boat.
Rife is a prominent paranormal sleuth on the “Overnight” YouTube channel. Rife signed a contract with the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) in December 2022.
