Early Life and Education
Marshall Plumlee, an inhabitant of Warsaw, Indiana, enrolled in Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, where he boarded with his older brothers.
The Greenies won 139 out of 150 games during his four years on the basketball team, leading to four straight state championships.
Each year, Plumlee gave the squad more than the year before. When both of his brothers were competing for Duke in his junior year, Plumlee was averaging 8.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game.
Plumlee had 11.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game as a senior. Following that season, the 6 feet 11 inch Plumlee was selected for the 2011 McDonald’s All-American Game and named the Gatorade Player of the Year in North Carolina.
Career
Both of Plumlee’s brothers played for the team during his rookie year at Duke, but Marshall redshirted. [10] He made his debut in 2012–2013, however a stress fracture in his foot limited the amount of time he could play. [10] Plumlee played just 8.5 minutes per game in 30 games during his junior season.
Plumlee had grown into a reliable inside defender by his junior year, supporting Jahlil Okafor, a freshman who went on to be selected third overall in that year’s NBA draft. The Duke squad from 2015 won the NCAA championship.
Along with Amile Jefferson and Matt Jones, Plumlee led the team during his final year at Duke.
Plumlee joined the New York Knicks for the 2016 NBA Summer League after going undrafted in the 2016 NBA draft.
He signed with the Knicks on July 8, 2016. [13] He was frequently assigned to the NBA Development League’s Westchester Knicks during his first season.
On November 20, 2016, against the Atlanta Hawks, Plumlee made his NBA debut. When starting center Joakim Noah was left home due to illness, he was hurriedly brought into the city from his D-League assignment.
In five minutes of play, he grabbed a rebound, fouled the Hawks, and won the game. His release from the Knicks occurred on July 7, 2017.
Plumlee signed a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on September 27, 2017.
On October 14, 2017, the Clippers released him after he had played in four preseason contests.
He was added to the roster for the first Agua Caliente Clippers training camp a week later. He eventually earned a berth on the team’s roster for opening night.
Plumlee and the Milwaukee Bucks agreed to a two-way contract on January 15, 2018. He split his playing time between the Bucks and its NBA G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, throughout the course of the season.
