Lalisa Manoban, born March 27, 1997, better known as Lisa, is an influential member of BLACKPINK, the world’s biggest girl group. She is one of the only Thai K-pop rappers and dancers. The other three members of Blackpink are Jisoo, Jennie, and Rosé. She worked for the company for five years before making her debut with the girl band ‘BlackPink,’ who released their first album, ‘Square One.’

Early Life and Education
Pranpriya Manoban was born on March 27, 1997, in Bangkok, Thailand. On the advice of a fortune teller, her name was later changed to Lalisa, which means “praised,” in order to bring in prosperity.
She was also known as Liz, Pokpak, and Thailand Princess before settling on the stage name ‘Lisa.’ Her elder sister, who lives in Thailand, is her only sibling.
In Thailand, she attended Praphamontree II School. She was always interested in music and dancing. She was in a dance troupe with her childhood friend BamBam, who went on to join the South Korean boy band ‘Got7.’
Lisa competed in the ‘YG Entertainment’ auditions in Thailand when she was 14 years old and won first place. In 2011, she was invited to join the entertainment company as a trainee and relocate to South Korea.
Her parents encouraged and supported her decision to move to South Korea at such a young age. She was YG Entertainment’s first non-Korean member.
She worked for the company for five years, until 2016. MV Taeyang of ‘Big Bang,’ Bobby and Mino of ‘YG Entertainment,’ and others performed with her during her training period.

She made her debut in August 2016 with the South Korean girl group ‘BLACKPINK,’ under the label ‘YG Entertainment,’ when they released their first album titled ‘Square One.’
The album included the singles ‘Whistle’ and ‘Boombayah,’ both of which reached number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart.
She was the group’s youngest member and quickly rose to the position of lead rapper, vocalist, and dancer. Kim Jennie (born in South Korea but raised in New Zealand), Rose (born and raised in New Zealand), and Kim Jisoo are the other members of the group (born and brought up in South Korea).
The band’s single, ‘Dhu-du Dhu-du,’ was initially released in Korean and later in Japanese and English to reach a wider audience.
With over 36 million views on You Tube within 24 hours of its release, the song broke all K-pop records and was nominated for ‘Video of the Year’ at the Break Tudo Awards.
She is a regular on the South Korean variety show ‘Blackpink House,’ which depicts the off-stage lives of the members of her band.
The show debuted in January 2018 and quickly gained popularity among her followers.
In June 2018, Manoban appeared on the cover of the Japanese magazine ‘Nylon,’ and was filmed for a promotional video for the magazine.
OSEN reported on July 12, 2021, that Lisa is set to begin filming the music video for her solo debut that week, with her upcoming debut set for August. YG confirmed a few hours later that Lisa was scheduled to film her music video that week.

Two teasers were released on BLACKPINK’s social media accounts on August 25, 2021. Lisa’s debut album, “LaLisa,” will be released on September 10, 2021. A visual teaser was released two days later. The track list was made public on September 6, 2021.
Lisa performed her solo song Lalisa on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on September 10, 2021. Promotions for the music show will begin on September 19 at Inkigayo.
Lisa released a Money performance video on BLACKPINK’s YouTube channel on September 24, 2021.
Lisa announced on March 7, 2022 that 0327 Vol. 3 Photobook will be released on March 28, 2022.
Lisa is the first female artist to have topped Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart, which is powered by Twitter.
According to Twitter, the track, “Lalisa” which was released in September 2021, led with a 45 percent increase to 1.5 million Twitter mentions during the tracking week of July 22-28.
The song’s success can be traced back to its nomination for Best K-Pop at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, which was announced on July 26. “Lalisa” is up against BTS’ “Yet to Come,” iTZY’s “Loco,” SEVENTEEN’s “Hot,” Stray Kids’ “Maniac,” and TWICE’s “The Feels” in the category.
