Initially, she played for local boys’ teams Pearson Juniors under-7s and later Samba Stars, under the guidance of her primary school best friend’s father, who encouraged her to join. She continued with these teams until the age of eleven.
For her education, Walsh attended both Haslingden High School and Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School Sixth Form in Rossendale.
During her time at Haslingden High School, she actively participated in girls’ football teams, displaying her talent on the field.
In July 2014, at the age of seventeen, she joined Manchester City, the club she and her family supported.
To support her football career, City provided her with the opportunity to finish her A-Levels at St Bede’s College in Manchester while she trained and played with the team. Coincidentally, her future teammate Georgia Stanway also attended St Bede’s.

Her football journey took an even more remarkable turn when she joined Barcelona, where she accomplished a continental treble in her debut season.
She helped the team secure victories in the league, Supercopa, and UEFA Women’s Champions League. Notably, she was an essential part of the England squad that emerged victorious in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, where her outstanding performance earned her the title of player of the match in the final.
At Manchester City, Walsh’s talent and dedication earned her a first-team spot as a teenager during the 2014 season.
She played a vital role in their successful quest for their first League Cup title. Her association with the club lasted for nine seasons (spanning eight years), during which she served as a captain on several occasions.
In March 2022, she achieved a significant milestone by becoming the second player to reach 200 appearances for Manchester City.
Later that year, she made a groundbreaking move to Barcelona, setting a world-record fee for a female footballer, while jointly holding City’s record for the highest number of appearances.
