Early Life and Education
Lebanese-American parents gave birth to and raised Jeanine Ferris in Elmira, New York. Her mother was a department-store model who spent a large portion of her youth in Beirut, while her father was a mobile-home salesperson.
Catholic Maronites made up her parents. Pirro was six years old when she decided she wanted to be a lawyer.
She spent her senior year of high school interning at the Chemung County District Attorney’s office before graduating in three years from Elmira’s Notre Dame High School.
Jeanine Ferris Pirro then earned with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Buffalo. At Albany Law School of Union University, where she worked as the law review’s editor, she earned her J.D. in 1975.
Career
Pirro became Westchester County’s first female district attorney after winning the election. As district attorney, Pirro achieved notoriety in cases involving elder abuse and domestic violence.
Pirro briefly ran for the Republican nomination for US Senate in 2006 to challenge Hillary Clinton; however, she withdrew her name from consideration to accept the nomination for New York Attorney General.
Pirro ultimately lost the general election to Democrat Andrew Cuomo. Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy was the title of her book published in 2018.
Pirro was identified as a defendant in a defamation case filed by Smartmatic in February 2021 in connection with fictitious allegations of electoral fraud in the 2020 US presidential election, but the charges against her were later thrown out by a judge in March 2022.
