Early Life and Education
On February 22, 1990, Yassin was born in Sudan. At the age of eight, he immigrated to Northampton, England, without knowing any English.
He received support for the remainder of his schooling after being identified as dyslexia as a teenager at Wellingborough School.
Later, he earned a master’s degree in biological photography and imaging from the University of Nottingham and a degree in zoology with conservation from Bangor University.
Yassin relocated to the Scottish Highlands when he was 21 in order to study the native fauna and advance his job; he currently resides in Kilchoan.
Career
Hamza Yassin is well-known for his work as Ranger Hamza on the CBeebies series Let’s Go for a Walk. He also wrote a book based on the show.
He presented Scotland: My Life in the Wild, a one-off Channel 4 program on his life and the species residing on the Ardnamurchan peninsula in the Scottish Highlands, in the latter half of 2020.
Hamza Yassin has made guest appearances on The One Show and Countryfile, and in 2021 he joined the cast of the BBC series Animal Park, which follows the keepers and animals at Longleat Safari Park.
