Early Life and Education
Fred Amugi was born in Teshie, a suburb of Accra, Ghana, on November 5, 1948. He completed his early education at Broaks Basic and Junior High School, followed by secondary schooling at Takoradi Senior High School and Nungua Senior High School.
After completing his education, he joined the Ghanaian civil service where he worked for thirty-three years, eventually rising to the position of acting Director of Supply in the Ministry of Finance.
Career
Amugi began his acting journey in 1970, initially appearing in stage plays and documentaries.
He gained nationwide recognition in 1985 with his role in the television series Opinto. Since then, he has featured in numerous Ghanaian films, such as Shoe Shine Boy (2013), Nyame Bekyere 1&2 (2015), Menua Paa Nie (2016), and Housekeepers (2016).
His international debut came with his role as Kwame Attakora in the BBC drama Holby City (2005).
Notably, he appeared as “Pastor” in Netflix’s Beasts of No Nation (2015) and as Pastor Uchebo in the acclaimed British film The Cursed Ones (2015).
