It was there that Fireboy began to demonstrate his talent and express his love for music, and he quickly became well-known in school.
Career
His breakthrough single “Jealous” debuted on the collaborative album YBNL Mafia Family (2018) before being re-released on March 25, 2019.
The song is made up of guitar riffs, traditional drums, and percussion, and it combines African harmonies with country and soul music elements.
Cracker Mallo produced “Jealous,” which is about love and the complicated feelings that come with it. Director K directed the visuals for “Jealous.”
Fireboy DML released the romantic single “What If I Say” on June 14, 2019. It was produced by Pheelz, who used percussion, ambient synth harmonies, and a drum riff in the production. TG Omori directed the video for “What If I Say.”

On November 29, 2019, Fireboy DML released his debut studio album Laughter, Tears, and Goosebumps (LTG). It was supposed to be released on November 25th.
The music on the album is a style of R&B that combines love and social issues with empirical songwriting.
LTG has 13 tracks and no guest artists; it has over 6 million streams on Spotify three days after its release. It received mostly positive reviews from music critics, but it was chastised for being labeled as a “Afro-Life” album rather than an R&B album.
The previously released singles “Jealous,” “What If I Say,” and “King” provided support for LTG. “Vibration,” the single, was a fan most loved song.
Fireboy will release the tracklist for his sophomore album, Apollo, on August 17, 2020. Pitchfork rated Apollo 8.3 out of 10 and described it as “the peak of his vision thus far, a melodious, detailed, and effortless album of feel-good pop and R&B.”
At the heart of his writing is a deep-seated knack for introspection, the desire to be himself and a whole bunch of other people like himself, spinning personal and borrowed accounts of existential crisis, ambition, love, lust, and depression,” NotJustOk wrote.
Fireboy DML released the single “Peru” in 2021, which Music in Africa described as “affirming his Afrobeats intelligence.” He appeared on Ladipoe’s hit “Running,” WSTRN’s “Be My Guest,” and Cheque’s “History.”
