She was born and raised in the United States, and after earning her Bachelor’s Degree in 2010, she decided to relocate to Nigeria to pursue her dreams of modeling, acting, and, most importantly, singing.

Early Life and Education
Emma Chukwugoziam Obi was born in Tyler, Texas on July 18, 1988. She is the second of four children born to Emmanuel and Maryann Obi, both of whom were born in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.
She attended St. Gregory Catholic School, Andy Woods Elementary School, Hornedo Middle School, and Franklin High School before graduating from Texas Southern University with a degree in Health Care Administration.
Emma was always active in the school choir and went on to compete successfully in state wide competitions throughout her entire school career. Her achievements as a classically trained opera singer earned her a high school letterman.

Emma Nyra has established herself as a major force in the African entertainment industry. All of her singles have received extensive airplay on major radio stations in Africa, the United Kingdom, and other parts of the world.

Emma Nyra has performed at over 700 shows, hosted dozens of red carpet events, completed more than 100 runway fashion shows, and acted in two Nollywood films since the beginning of her career.

Emma Nyra in 2018 had a verbal war with her former manager, Ubi Franklin following a feud Ubi had with Iyanya.
Emma seems to have supported Iyanya in the feud. Emma was rumoured to be dating her former manager, Ubi Franklin though she denied ever dating Ubi.
Days after, Ubi confirmed that they were actually in a romantic relationship.
In 2018, Emma Nyra, was reportedly pregnant and hiding in France with her boyfriend who’s identity isn’t known, as they await the arrival of their twin.
The singer was said to have met her prospective baby-daddy, sometimes last year, through Kenyan singer, Victoria Kimani.
On August 12, 2018, Emma welcomed the babies; Alexandra and Alexandre in the United States of America. Emma has shared the picture of her twins as they clock 6 months old.
