Early Life and Education
Born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, popularly known as Dababy, is an American rapper, award-winning singer, and songwriter.
He was formerly known as Baby Jesus but had to change it saying it will be a distraction.
He was born on December 22, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina where he spends most of his life doing music.
Dababy attended Vance High School and graduated in 2010 before proceeding to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he spent two years.
However, he didn’t complete his studies, he was more focused on his passion for music.
Career
Between 2014 and 2015, Dababy was extremely serious with his music career, releasing some good mixtapes such as Nonfiction, God’s Work, and Baby TalkBillion Dollar Baby.
Dababy’s career took another shape in January 2019, when he signed a record deal with Interscope Records.
In March 2019, he started his imprint label “Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment“
His debut studio album, “Baby on Baby”, was released by Interscope Records. The Baby on Baby album debuted at No. 25 on the US Billboard 200 album charts before moving to No. 7.
The year 2019 was nice to Dababy as he also featured with Megan Thee Stallion on “Cash Shit” and Quality Control’s “Baby”, both of which had massive success.
On September 27, 2019, he released his second studio album, “Kirk,” which he said is a tribute to his name. The Kirk album topped the US Billboard 200.
In April 2020, he released his third studio album, Blame It on Baby, which also topped the charts as the number one album in the US.

Kirk publicly supported Kanye West, an independent candidate and fellow musician, for president in August 2020.
He is Christian, and stated in 2019 that his religious beliefs is: “I’m fortunate. Christ’s blood has covered me.”
In 2020, he dated American singer DaniLeigh. After her song’s lyrics, “yellow bone that’s what he wants,” caused controversy, they broke up in February 2021.
After an encounter between the two was captured on camera and shared on Instagram months after the couple’s breakup, it was apparently verified that Kirk had fathered a kid with the singer.
