Early Life and Education
Candace Maxwell is a first-generation Caribbean American, the daughter of parents from Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
Maxwell was born in 1999 in Westford, Connecticut, and raised in Queens, New York with her younger sister Kristen Maxwell by a single mother, Monica Waite.
She has used her fiery passion for music and dance to prove her worth as a natural performer since her youth. After her time in New York, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, to attend CCEPA (Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts).
She went on to study acting and dance after graduation. She studied ballet, modern, jazz, tap, African, partnering, and hip hop. All of Maxwell’s hard work paid off handsomely.
Career
Candace Maxwell began working on improving her dancing skills at the age of five, and she later grew up and worked as a dancer on a stage film and on Broadway.
Before starting her acting career, she worked extensively as a dancer on stage, film, and Broadway having been a back-up dancer for hip-hop icons Beyonce, Lil Kim and P. Diddy.
She made her professional acting debut in 2011 as a backup dancer in the film “Footloose.” She had also portrayed Didi in the comedy-drama “Katie Kene.”
Her skills landed her dance segments on major TV shows and catapulted her to Broadway where she was cast in “Holler If You Hear Me”.
Having her eyes set on expanding her opportunities in an acting career, Candace trained at the Maggie Flanigan Studio with an in-depth focus on the Meisner technique.
She also appeared in Tyler Perry’s film “A Madea Homecoming,” which was released on Netflix in February. In 2019, she rose to prominence as Cassandra Haynes in the film “Power.“
In the 2021 series titled “All the Queen’s Men, Maxwell portrays the role of “DJ Dime,” the resident DJ at Club Eden, who is the voice and rhythm of the club.
She is a young, fun, sexy ambitious woman who is the life of the party and looks to Madam as a mentor, becoming her protégé.
Madame takes Dime under her wing hoping to train her to become her #2 and the face of the club.
